Does method disinfect or kill bacteria?
Not yet (other than hand sanitizer). There are two reasons for this. Firstly, we have yet to find a technology that is non-toxic and natural that gets the job done. Secondly, we believe antimicrobial products should be used responsibly. Some studies have shown that bacteria can become resistant to the chemical agents that are currently used in disinfecting and antibacterial products (these chemicals, like Triclosan & quaternary ammonium compounds, also do not meet method’s green requirements). If method ever did an antimicrobial product, then we would make sure that the technology did not encourage microbial resistance, was non-toxic & natural, and we would make sure people knew to only use it in places where there is a clear health benefit from controlling bacteria rather than using it all over the home. Since we haven’t found a technology that can do this responsibly yet, we do not offer antibacterial cleaners.
