Julia Child (Meryl Streep) and Julie Powell (Amy Adams) are featured in writer-director Nora Ephron’s adaptation of two bestselling memoirs. The movie also follows Julia and Paul Child through Julia Child’s memoir, MY LIFE IN FRANCE, which she wrote with her grand nephew Alex Prud’homme. Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends…until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible. Rated PG-13 for brief strong language and some sensuality.
I would have to say most definitely yes, when you find an actress such as Meryl Streep who is already a wonderful performer and then you place her in front of the camera with a movie that has been well written, written with passion and true dedication all you could come out with is a win win situation….. Meryl Streep as Julia Child? Columbia is cooking up “Julie & Julia,” starring Streep as the famous chef and Amy Adams as a mastercook wannabe. Project centers on a frustrated temp secretary who embarks on a yearlong culinary quest to cook all 524 recipes in Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” She chronicles her trials and tribulations in a blog that catches on with the food crowd. Nora Ephron, who is adapting the screenplay from Julie Powell’s book “Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen,” is attached to direct. Studio is eyeing a 2008 start date.
