Does Mediterranean Diet bring health benefits?
Tagged As: Benefit Of Mediterranean Diet Question: Saw an ad. in (UK) paper for olive oil capsules to gain benefits of mediteranean diet. Have I missed the point or am I right in thinking its *exchanging* olive oil for other fats (and eating fish and fresh veg) that gives a health benefit, not adding extra olive oil to diet? Answer: I’ve just found out that my cholesterol is high and all bad, so I’ve been reading about this. The Mediteranean diet is not just about olive oil. The people who formed the basis of the Mediteranean diet studies eat an absolutely staggering amount of raw, or nearly raw, fruit and vegetables, drink wine daily, eat _way_ more fish than is in either of the SAD’s and a bunch of other things. You can’t reduce the Mediteranean diet to olive oil, or even fat substitution (even though fat substitution is a really good idea).
