Yes. Mediatech uses this alcohol form of vitamin B6 as a substitute for pyridoxal hydrochloride. Used in the original published formulation, pyridoxal hydrochloride caused DMEM formulations to precipitate, thereby creating performance problems. Mediatech has modified Cellgro DMEM, and other media formulations, by substituting pyridoxine hydrochloride for the pyridoxal and eliminating the precipitate.
