In most fast food places, and convenience stores, they won’t be able to make a lot of change. The cashiers have to drop excess cash into a safe, which only managers can open. And they won’t open the safe just to give you change. If you order C$30 of stuff at a Canadian McDonalds, then they’ll probably be able to give you change. However, a McDonalds in another country probably won’t even accept any sort of Canadian money for payment. Go to a bank to get change. If you’re not in Canada, you’ll have to go to a bank that accepts international currency.
