Does Mayo Clinic determine the practice decisions for each Mayo Health System organization, or are those decisions made by the individual Mayo Health System organization?
Mayo Health System enables its organizations to make local decisions as much as possible. The ultimate goal is a healthcare system that respects the long and honorable traditions of each Mayo Health System institution. While some larger organizational decisions require Mayo Health System or Mayo Clinic approval, each Mayo Health System organization is categorized by physician leadership, local economic self-sufficiency, relative local autonomy in operational decision-making. Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Health System are working to define a single high quality standard of direct patient care.
