Does Masturbation Prevent Prostate Cancer?

Leitzmann et al, looked at prospective data from the Health Professionals Follow-up Study on 29,342 US men. Using data from and table 1 and table 2, we calculate that for every 11 men who ejaculated an average of 21 times a month or more between the ages of 20 and 29, one more case of prostate cancer was found compared to men of all ejaculation frequencies, and that for every 81 men who ejaculated an average of 13 times a month or more, one more case of prostate cancer was found compared to all men; more frequent ejaculations did not protect men against prostate cancer and perhaps harmed them. It is more likely, however, that ejaculations themselves are not the risk factor, but rather that something else that causes prostate cancer also causes men to seek ejaculation, perhaps testosterone.
