One of the provisions of the Maryland Recycling Act focuses on the waste generated by State government. Executive Order 01.01.2001.02 Sustaining Maryland’s Future with Clean Power, Green Buildings, and Energy Efficiency was signed in 2001. The Executive Order re-energized Maryland’s commitment to State office building recycling by requiring State agencies to annually divert or recycle at least 20% of the waste they generate.
