As part of Cornell’s First-Year Book Project, all first-year students at Cornell, plus many other community members, are reading Shelly’s classic gothic horror novel, Frankenstein, in preparation for a series of panels, talks, seminars–and more. Stuart Basefsky, Information Specialist, Reference Services and Director, Institute for Workplace Studies News Bureau, has published an online guide, “Guide to Frankenstein: Workplace Themes & Sources for Discussion,” which is a brief collection of links designed to engage readers in a discussion of how the themes in the novel have workplace relevance. Several other general websites have been created around the Book Project, the New Student Book Project site includes a comprehensive listing.
