At the time of writing, there is no ratified, accepted standard for this new technology. While US Robotics have developed their own proprietry format, there is still no agreed standard between major modem and internet hardware manufacturers worldwide. There are several competing formats, until the standard is properly ratified and supported by all modem manufacturers (as all previous speeds such as 14.4k, 28.8k and so on have been) it is a gamble to purchase any 57.6k hardware. As soon as the standard is announced, Martex will move to support it.
