Does MARTA have plans of putting a Rail Station in Windward?

According to an article in the AJC earlier this year, North Point mall area is MARTA’s first choice. “After surveying several North Fulton locations, MARTA found the mall area to have the greatest potential for future development that could support a rail stop and give commuters an alternative to fighting traffic on Ga. 400” the article said. It also stated that “MARTA has no plans to extend its north rail line past its current terminus in Sandy Springs, 10 miles south of the mall. In fact, an earlier MARTA study found that the entire north Fulton area lacked the density to justify an expansion.” The rail line from North Springs to Windward has been estimated to cost about $2 billion and take at least 10 years after funding has been approved.
