Does Marinium Reef Iron cause unwanted slime algae?
Both macroalgae and unwanted hair algae benefit from higher level of iron. However, high level of nutrients such as phosphate, silicate and nitrate tend to favor the development the later of the two. Therefore, it is not recommended to add iron supplementation if the system is high in these nutrients and/or having problems with hair algae.
