Does malaria exist in Southern Africa?
Yes it does. Malaria is endemic in the Northern Province and Mpumalanga, northern KwaZulu Natal, Okavango Delta and Mozambique. If you are traveling in one of this areas, please consult a heath-care professional for a malaria prophylaxis. Even if you are taking malaria prophylaxis, you can still get malaria if you are bitten by an infected anopheles mosquito. To prevent this, use also a mosquito repellent in the early morning and in the afternoon. Wear long sleeved shirts and long pants, socks and sleep under a net.
