Does lycopene prevent cancer?
Numerous studies have confirmed that lycopene is a powerful antioxidant. In recent years, various studies suggest that the presence of lycopene in plasma may lower the risks for cancer and cardiovascular diseases. A Harvard Medical School Study of 48,000 men, for example, suggested that those who consumed tomato products twice a week reduced their risk of prostate cancer by up to 34%. Other studies have shown an inverse relationship between lycopene plasma levels with other cancers.
