Does lunar eclipse happens on every full moon day?
A Full Moon occurs when the Moon is opposite the Sun as seen from the Earth, in other words the Earth is between the Moon and the Sun. As a result we see the full sunlit portion of the Moon at that time. A Lunar eclipse does not happen every Full Moon, but only once or twice a year. The Earth does cast a shadow behind it, but because the Moon’s orbit is inclined with respect to the Earth, the shadow more often than not misses the Moon, passing either above or below it.
