Does Lt Gen A K Nanda deserve a more severe punishment for sexual misconduct?
Deccan Chronicle has this to say about the incident: June 3: A top Army officer of the rank of Lieutenant General is facing allegations of sexual misconduct levelled by the wife of a subordinate officer. The Army’s Engineer-in-Chief Lt. Gen. A.K. Nanda is facing allegations that he misbehaved with the wife of one of his subordinates during an official visit to Israel from May 7 to 10. The wife of the officer is reported to have complained against Lt. Gen. Nanda. The subordinate officer—-of the rank of Colonel—-was subsequently transferred out of his post to another appointment, Army sources said. The Army is conducting preliminary investigations which it says show a “number of loopholes in the account of allegations”. On Thursday evening, the Army made it clear that Lt. Gen. Nanda had neither resigned nor had been asked to resign. Army Chief Gen. V.K. Singh — who had vowed to focus on maintaining the prestige of the Army when he took over two months ago — is understood to be monitoring
