Does loud noise affect the unborn baby?
Unfortunately we do not really know what effect very loud noise might have upon a baby in the womb. There is increasing evidence that babies in the womb are very aware of external stimuli such as noise, but whether this might be damaging in any way is not clear. Some women note that when they are in situations where there is a lot of loud noise their baby is unusually active, which indicates a response, but doesn’t help us to know whether the noise might be harmful. It is normal and healthy for you to be concerned about the well-being of your baby during your pregnancy and your gut instincts are probably the best markers of whether something is safe or not. You need to consider whether you will be happy to be in that environment while pregnant. If you are going to be worrying throughout then it may be best to give it a miss.
