Does long distance running affect virility?
I don’t think that, logically, this is an issue because: 1. A 15km run doesn’t take much more than an hour so, even if there was a significant increase in temperature, it is for a comparatively short amount of time. 2. The male body is designed to ensure that there is minimal effect on sperm production from the core body temperature. 3. Bearing in mind the human body can only increase by about five or six degrees, compared with the huge changes in temperature due to the weather, it would seem logical that a warm day would have more impact on virility than running for an hour. I was on 100km per week for several months last year and there was no noticeable effect. I haven’t been able to find any studies but, if they do exist http://scholar.google.com should find them for you.
