Does light reach a plant with the help of chlorophyll? That means without chlorophyll plants cannot receive li?

To my understanding the chlorophyll turns light into energy. I don’t think it helps the light get there. If there is no light the plant will die. If there is no chlorophyll there is no energy and the plant will die. Now the receiving of light may continue with the evidence of warmth but if there is no chlorophyll there is no transformation of light to energy.
