Does laser vision correction last? What about long term results?
We have over four decades of experience with the precursor to LASIK known as myopic keratomileusis or automated lamellar keratectomy. Also, several studies have shown stable, good vision at 10, 12 and 14 years after laser vision correction (Ophthalmology 2004; 1813-1824, American Journal of Ophthalmology, Jan. 2008; British Journal of Ophthalmology, Feb. 2008). We believe it is unlikely that you will require any additional laser vision correction to improve your distance vision once your vision is stable after the procedure (a recent analysis of our custom LASIK results showed that, on average, over 95% of our patients achieved excellent results with a single LASIK procedure).
