Does Jumping Beans® use encryption to protect a jumping application?
Yes, to an extent. For editions of Jumping Beans® that support encryption, jumping applications are protected by encryption while in transit. However, the jumping applications are not encrypted while they are on a host computer. At first glance, an encryption scheme might seem to be a good way to protect a jumping application from a hostile host. It would seem that the jumping application could be encrypted so that only the jumping application can access itself. However, in order to use the encrypted data either the resident host software or the jumping application would have to have a key, and a good hacker could get that key with little effort.
