Does Jump Smart utilize space that could be used by an elementary school class?
Jump Smart is offered in an elementary school classroom, but can only be offered if the space is not being used as a classroom. Due to a decrease in elementary student enrollment, several classrooms within the district are designated as being closed by School District Administrators. Jump Smart is located in an available classroom in the elementary school. As a Kiddikins based program, Jump Smart requires limited space and furniture. Jump Smart requires only the use of an open area (free of obstacles), two round tables and ten small chairs. Since the academic portion of the program is based on movement, there are no typical ‘preschool type centers’ (i.e. books, blocks, water, sand, dress-up, kitchen, etc.). Because there are no centers, the room is available for multi-purpose use by the school or other members of the community when not being used by Jump Smart.
