Many competitors offer a “locking desktop” with their laptop mounts which locks the laptop to the desktop. Yet they fail to secure the desktop or the arm or the stand section…making the locking desktop as effective as locking the doors of a convertible car…while the top is down. Even though the laptop would be locked to the desktop, it would in no way prevent someone from removing the desk with your laptop attached. For that reason, Jotto Desk suggest the use of a “Kensington Lock.” The Kensington Lock is attached to 6′ of steel cable that is looped around the seat structure or steering wheel and then inserted/locking into the Kensington Port found on almost all laptop computers. The advantage to this kind of lock is visibility and the fact that the laptop itself is secured to the vehicle, not the desktop.
