Does John McCain want to reinstate the draft?
In a town hall event in New Mexico earlier today, John McCain was asked a question by a woman in the audience who basically said that reinstating the draft is necessary. She ended her statement saying “If we don’t reenact the draft I don’t think we will have anyone to chase Bin Laden to the gates of hell.” McCain responded by saying, “Ma’am, let me say that I don’t disagree with anything you said and thank you. And I am grateful for your support of all of our veterans.” Although McCain could have just said that out of compassion and sympathy , the statement has raised a lot of eyebrows, especially since he said he didn’t disagree with anything she said. Because nearly the entire country would be up in arms if he seriously reinstated the draft, I don’t think it would be a wise decision (among a hundred other reasons).
