Does JIB teach children from the ages of 7 to 11 about brain structure and function?

In general, yes. However, the game seemed better at teaching the functions of the cerebellum than the other two parts of the brain, possibly because Sara concretely represented dance and balance. If Sir and Brian could more concretely represent abstract functions of thinking and controling internal organs (perhaps by holding a calculator or by having a translucent torso), they might better represent their sections. The game also seemed to be better when it represented information in multiple ways–as an image, text, and verbal description. Game users were able to correctly answer questions testing knowledge of brain structure and function. Our hyphothesis that brain structure wouldn’t be learned was proved incorrect. Evidently, the two modes of visual representation (flashing structures in books, rotating brain in ship) of brain structures were adequate to teach the location of these structures.
