Does JHU have a policy regarding paid 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks for classified employees?

An unpaid meal period is generally built into full time schedules for classified employees. However, paid rest periods or breaks are not required or provided for by JHU policy. Naturally, we know that at some point during the day most staff members will need to take a couple of minutes for personal necessities or to grab something to drink; however, this is not a formal break period of a set duration. Occasionally staff members will request permission to use half of their unpaid meal period at the actual meal time, and use the remainder divided between 15 minute morning and afternoon breaks. Because of the way some employment laws are written, this practice is not permissible for non-exempt positions.
