No. Java RTS 2.1 supports both SPARC and x86 platforms (on Solaris 10), thus greatly expanding its reach to widely available, standard platforms. Furthermore, Linux (with real-time POSIX APIs) on x86 platforms is supported as well. (For some further details, please see section Java RTS Minimum Recommended System Requirements.) Java RTS is currently running on systems as diverse as laptops, desktops, large servers, and Sun’s multi-core offerings. Future Java RTS releases will be supported on other OS’s as well (see next question).
