Sometimes, green poops can be related to an overabundance of foremilk – especially if the poo is watery or foamy. Excess foremilk is often a side effect of an overactive letdown, or OALD. I had this really bad with my youngest. If your baby chokes, gags, gulps, and/or swallows a lot of air when he nurses, you just might have OALD. It’s fairly common in nursing mothers. You might also have excessively leaky breasts, and a baby that is very gassy, fussy, and spits up frequently. OALD is often associated with oversupply, too. One thing you can try is block nursing. “Block” nursing is offering the same breast for a certain “block” of time, usually about 2-3 hours – sometimes even 4, depending on how often your baby eats and how severe your OALD is. This helps the baby get more hindmilk, which is produced toward the end of a nursing session.
