If it was a factual historical piece where Nancy was a real person, then there might be cause to think a black Nancy wouldn’t be right, but as it is from a work of fiction, then the role should be played by the best person regardless of colour.

I think it’s political correctness gone over the top, as if black people did not have a rich culture of their own. what if you cast a story about Josephine Baker and got a white woman to play her. Some parts require a black person to play it and others don’t, I remember seeing Queen Guinevere in the King Arthur story done recently and it did not fit well, it was a bit annoying and I’m not racist, and that was played by a black woman, The black people have their own productions not to need to infiltrate some sacred cows of other cultures This carries on you will have Eskimos playing Zulus Indians playing Vikings Chinese playing Pete Doherty and Blonds playing Amy Winehouse.
