Does It Intend to Overtake UON As the Countrys Largest University?
Ever since the reign of Olive Mugenda as the vice chancellor at Kenyatta University, it appears that the University is on an upward spiral, at least if the number of buildings and facilities at the University is an indicator. The University is expanding rapidly both in terms of buildings, facilities and the number of students. The intake for Kenyatta University is now surging ahead that of the University of Nairobi (UON). Because for much of its existence the University has mainly been associated with offering education and other arts related degree courses, it appears that the University is intent on shedding this image fast. Sometime ago, when someone told you that he was a KU student, you would automatically assume that they were an education or arts major. There was also a very negative perception that the students had too much time on their hands and in some quarters it was rumored that some students only had a few hours of classes per week.
