Does it hurt when the Mirena Coil is inserted?
It depends on whether or not you have had children. I have not so it was more difficult, The first time was painful – like something scraping inside you and I did have stomach pains for the rest of the day – which I’m told are like very bad period pains. Removcal was a doddle – I coughed and it was out. The second one however was far more painful – I screamed and jolted upright and my blood pressure dropped alarmingly. The pains continued to the next day. So what I will do next time is have it inserted under generlal aneasthetic in hospiral. Lots of women have it done like that. The strings going missing are a relative rarity and do not happen with sex or tampon use.
