Does it affect the Child tax credit?

0

Well, you’re out of luck because of your age. The Child Tax Credit no longer applies the year the child turns 17. So, since you are 17 now, you no longer qualify. It doesn’t matter if you are working or not. My daughter is 18 and will start University in September. We could not claim her for the Child Tax Credit last year because she was 17. At least I can still claim my son for a couple of years! Look at this article http://www.irs.
