This article discusses the importance of inspection from the standard compliance point of view. Several definitions of inspection are mentioned and the three criteria it is used for are: (1) to make the accept/reject decision; (2) to collect information for later decisions and actions; and (3) to satisfy regulatory or procedural requirements.
