Not scratch free but very scratch reistant. You could only get a scratch on it if you were really trying to. But unfortunately they are glass so if dropped it is possible to shatter the screen.

All iPod touches/iPhones have scratch free glass screens. However, only the newest ones have fingerprint resistant screens.
