Does Invisible Children have any micro-lending program?
Yes, we do. IC has a new program called the Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA). The initiative is an outlet for former ICBC beneficiaries to continue their practices of savings and investing, as guided by the Savings and Investment Training Initiative (SITI) by joining micro-finance groups. These small groups—twenty in number—are spearheaded by former bracelet makers, but also include other newly resettled community members interesting in microfinance at beneficiaries’ points of return. Twenty groups have been established across the region and have begun their microfinance lending practices, incorporating a total of 400 beneficiaries in the program.
