Does iMovie 09 support the new Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 camcorder?

I’m thinking of buying a Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 camcorder, but don’t know if iMovie ’09 will recognize it. The only page here for supported camcorders is for iMovie 08. If it does not officially support it, can one copy the files from the camcorder to the hard drive, then import them into iMovie? (It records to MP4 (H.264) format.) Thanks!
