Does ICS support sharing files over the network?
The ICS file manager database can be created on any valid network drive. Select FILE/FILE MANAGER SETUP to specify the location of the linked drive. This disk will now be used to store all project files as they are created by the Metrics ICS file manager. 2. Can I use ICS to control instrumentation over the network? Instruments can not be directly controlled over the network using Metrics ICS. There are new products from HP and National Instruments that allow GPIB instruments to be attached to an Ethernet connection. These have not been tested and are not currently supported but may be supported in future versions. 3. How can I transfer Metrics ICS data to my UNIX workstation? The most direct way of transferring an ASCII file to a UNIX machine is to use FTP. This will require a TCP/IP stack running on the PC. This method is acceptable for occasional file transfers. For a more automated method there are several NFS software packages for the PC to allow the UNIX disk drive to be mounted
