Does Ian Pilmer exemplify the global warming denial movement?
Ian Pilmer is an Australian geologist who wrote a global warming denial book called ‘Heaven and Earth’ full of unsubstantiated false statements and outright lies. His book was roundly panned, including by journalist George Monbiot. Pilmer subsequently challenged Mobiot to a debate, and Monbiot accepted on the condition that Pilmer answer a few simple questions about where he got the “facts” in his book. Pilmer eventually accepted these terms. Monbiot sent Pilmer a set of simple questions over a month ago. Pilmer’s only responses were to send Monbiot a series of ridiculous questions of his own, and to ask which version of his book some of the questions came from (even though all versions have the same figures).
