Does I Corinthians 16:1-2 change Gods 7th Day Sabbath to a 1st day Sabbath?
If one will notice in these verses, Paul is suggesting to the church, beginning with the first of the week, (day is again italicized and so was added by the translators), they were to go and work at gathering their food items, which takes much time and work to get that job done and work that should not be done on the Sabbath. They were to do this gathering in the first of the week so they would not have to do all that work when Paul came by to take it to Jerusalem. This was not talking about collecting of money and taking up money during a Sunday morning church service. Paul would not have commanded work to be done on the Sabbath because this first of the week was not a Sabbath, but talking about any day of the first of the week. This is just another case of today’s Christianity adding to, and taking away from God’s law concerning God’s commanded, 7th day Sabbath when they try to teach that this Scripture teaches the first day of the week is now the Sabbath to be observed.
