Does HRT cause breast cancer?
Women who take estrogen and progestin for five years or more may be at a higher risk for getting breast cancer. Even if you take HRT for less than five years, you are still at risk for developing breast cancer. You may develop breast cancer if you are only on HRT for one year. The breast cancer that HRT may cause is more serious and harder to diagnose and treat than other forms of breast cancer. The longer you are on HRT, the more likely you are to get breast cancer.
