Yes to both. HP’s redesigned inkjet and LaserJet print cartridge packaging is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 37 million pounds in 2007. • HP recently redesigned HP inkjet print cartridge multipack packaging which combined with a previous change from PVC to PP/HDPE in 2003, has brought the total material reduction to over 80%. The new packaging is made with recycled content paperboard. • HP inkjet photo value pack packaging has been reduced by 10%, by weight, and recycled content paperboard replaced PVC (#3) plastic. • HP inkjet print cartridge tri-pack packaging sold in club stores has been reduced by over 40%, by weight, and recycled PET (RPETG or #1) replaces “virgin” PVC (#3). • HP single inkjet cartridge packaging in North America continues to use 80% recycled paper, minimum 35% post-consumer content, minimum. • HP LaserJet print cartridge packaging now uses 45% less packaging material, by weight. Exterior corrugated cardboard carton continues to be made from 30-85%
HP works to make packaging more environmentally sound by reducing the amount of materials used, increasing the use of recycled materials and improving recyclability – all while maintaining product integrity and packaging strength requirements. A significant amount of packaging is made from 100% recyclable materials, and all packaging materials returned as part of HP Planet Partners are recycled.
