Does Henna cover gray on hair?
When you have grey hairs and you want black, you need the two step process of using pure henna first (which is only red) and then indigo alone afterward (which is black and often mislabeled as black henna.) You’ll need the best henna you can get, pure and body art quality, to assure that your greys absorb as much red as possible, so when you use indigo you don’t get a greenish tint on the lighter hairs. Indigo sticks better to hennaed hair, and the deep red base helps assure you get a true black, instead of a greyish/greenish/bluish black color. I use henna alone on my dark hair, and it covers my greys completely after two applications. The first usually gives me lighter red strands, which look like highlights. The more often you henna, the darker they get until they’re hardly noticeable.
