Does heat or ice help with the novacaine swelling?

It would really depend on what “procedure” you had that required an oral anesthetic to be used. If it’s an extraction, use ice for the first 24 hours and follow all instructions given by the dentist. So, if you need either ice or heat for a procedure you need to check with your dentist office as to which one should be used, because neither should be necessary from the use of an anesthetic. Good luck. BTW the use of Novocaine hasn’t been used in many years, so you had a different anesthetic that was probably lidocaine or septocain. There are a lot of different ones. If you feel that you are having a reaction to the anesthetic you should consult your dental office immediately.
