Does Health Services excuse class absences?
Health Services does not issue excuses. Students are responsible for discussing absences and late assignments with their individual faculty. Faculty may obtain oral verification of a student’s visit if the student signs a release. Diagnoses are never released/discussed. If Health Services is closed and flight students need to ground themselves due to illness or injury, they must document the missed activity by calling the office and leaving a voice mail message. Follow-up with a clinician is required when Health Services resumes operation. Students are required to familiarize themselves with the procedures for medical grounding located in the Flight Operations Manual.
