Does Hawaii plan to roll out electric ferries too?

Many new large ships are now diesel-electric. Straight electric from an efficiency standpoint would be a colossal waste of time, unless they plugged into some geothermal power generating plant at the dock that produced practically free energy. Thinking about the time wasted charging batteries, and the excess energy that would be required to carry the batteries everywhere makes me think that they wouldn’t do this unless Hawaii is dumber than California.
