Does having a CLEP policy help recruit students?
High-achieving students are drawn to institutions that recognize advanced learning and allow students to earn credit. These students are looking to complete basic course work and accelerate to courses in their majors. “CLEP is an important recruitment tool for our institution. When students hear that we give credit for CLEP exams they are very interested in exploring studying here. We have also found that students who take CLEP exams graduate at higher rates than those who do not. In addition, the faculty have supported and encouraged our use of CLEP for two reasons. CLEP exams attract students who are independent learners and faculty value these students. The faculty also reviewed the exams and determined that the content tested mirrors the goals and objectives of our introductory courses.
