Does Harvard have any aid funding dedicated to specific incoming students such as underrepresented minorities or women?
Again, our aid is largely need-based. When we consider need, we don’t consider issues of race or gender or even nationality. While we’re certainly conscious of some of these other factors, they don’t play into our calculation of a fellowship aid. Our merit-based aid affects maybe 10 people total. At this point, there are a couple of distinct funds, the majority of them are earmarked for people with nonprofit backgrounds. Again, [our merit-based aid] is relatively insignificant and does not affect the vast majority of the student body. That may change, however.
