Does Grant Writing Associates work for contingent fees (i.e., on a commission basis)?
No. The reason is that grant development costs typically cannot be paid using grant funds unless such costs are deemed by the funding agency to be allowable costs. Therefore, proposing to pay a grant writer a percentage of grant funds is usually unethical and/or illegal. As such, grant development costs are oftentimes paid from other resources available to your organization, such as donations, other grant funds, indirect cost recovery, etc.
