Does granite need to be sealed, and is it really “bullet proof”?

Although granites are very hard, by comparison to limestones and marbles, some are, nonetheless, very porous and need to be sealed. Just because granites are very hard and heat resistant does not make them bulletproof. In fact, they can be brittle and susceptible to impact, as well as staining. Although much tougher, and requiring less maintenance than other stones, granites are far from “bullet proof” and still require appropriate care.
