Does going through muscle or opening ribs mean it’s going to be a long recovery?
Dr. Gomez: It would be a much longer recovery — it would be a couple months of recovery to get that incision healed. The tiny incisions to put on the camera in the robotic arms heal within a couple weeks. Is there a difference in the type of surgery? Dr. Gomez: We’ll see. This is the first time it’s being done. I’ll see how long it takes me, but hopefully I think it should take a couple hours. How long does a normal surgery take? Dr. Gomez: A normal one would take about that time. How long is the hospital stay for the traditional one? Dr. Gomez: For the traditional one, it’s about three or four days. For this one, hopefully overnight.
